La Petite France, Abbey Street, Coleraine brings you the same delectable treats and each and every one is handmade to a standard that is hard to replicate.
Our Coleraine spoke with Vanessa Maignan, owner of this little piece of French heaven in Coleraine town centre.
“I decided to open the French pâtisserie at the beginning of March this year and I have been delighted with the response to it,” she said.
“We bake only traditional French desserts and the Coleraine locals are certainly embracing what we do.”
Despite the uncertainty many businesses faced as a result of the global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, Vanessa, a French native, was undeterred.
“I thought there was room for some more food diversity in Coleraine and to be honest I did not take Covid into consideration at all, because, like everything, it shall pass.”
Such has been the success of La Petite France, Vanessa has already had to change her original business model. “We initially did not have a sit-in facility and now we do, by popular demand!” she added. “I have been absolutely amazed at the way the business has been received in the town and we have so many returning customers. We also have people travelling for our French desserts, even from as far as Donegal. “I get so many messages saying how nice it is to see something different in Coleraine and like La Petite France there are a number of different independent traders opening up in the town centre which is great.” What does the future hold for Vanessa and La Petite France? “Hopefully expanding the business!” she concluded.
